Policy on Endorsement

Endorsements involving the use of Hopkins’s name, symbols, images, logos and/or faculty or staff names or statements, are related issues, but are separate from branding.  For health information projects and products that are not the subject of review and approval under these guidelines, it is Johns Hopkins policy not to be directly or indirectly identified with, or lend its name or the names and statements of faculty and staff to the promotion, marketing, or advertising of any outside commercial project or product.

Requests by Hopkins faculty, staff, or outside entities (e.g., suppliers, corporate research sponsors, businesses, advertising or public relations agencies or industries) for specific exceptions under special circumstances must be approved by the Office of Communications and Public Affairs, with guidance, where appropriate, from the Office of Policy Coordination, Office of Licensing and Business Development, Planning & Marketing, Development Office and Office of General Counsel.
